X-men Apocalypse major details on main villain inside!

What does Apocalypse want and why?
Singer explained:
“He believes with his heart that order is the only thing that’s going to save humanity, and he will provide that order at any cost… and for a person who begins as a unifier and then grows in power – What’s the old expression about power? Power does what? And what does absolute power do? Things just never go right, so that civilization goes down and he starts a fresh one.“In this movie, something happens, he thinks he’s figured it out finally. ‘Oops,’ didnt really go well, he gets kind of buried and then wakes up, now he’s in a different situation than he’s ever been before… The Babylonians, the Sumerians, the ancient civilizations, and suddenly he wakes up in 1983. Now the world’s connected with television and radio. We see it as different civilizations, we see it as “super powers” as he says it, then the non-superpowers, the first world, second world, third, whatever. But to him it’s all just one giant interconnected, overly militarized, screwed up civilization that worships false idols and is self destructive, and needs to be refined and saved from itself.”
X-Men-Apocalypse-Movie-Scale
SO what are his powers?
Singer:  “He has a number of different powers that he’s acquired over the years as he’s moved from body to body, accumulating these various abilities. One of them is to imbue other mutants and to heighten their powers and abilities beyond anything they ever imagined. Secondly he can shield from psychic powers, he can form shields so that it makes it harder for a psychic like Xavier to tap in and get to them. He’s not a psychic himself though. He can amplify your power, transform you as a mutant but his ability to physically damage, destroy, or build is in the non-biological world. That’s in the physical world, he can change the inorganic molecules of things.

Deadpool opens in theaters February 12, 2016; X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016; Gambit sometime in 2017; Wolverine 3 on March 3, 2017; and an unannounced X-Men film on July 13, 2018. The New Mutants is also in development.

new upcoming Predator film details inside….

Shane Black, who co-starred as Hawkins in the original 1987 Predator had easily one of the best dialogue lines in the entire film, hell in the entire film series when he joked with Sonny Lamhand about the “echo” of his girlfriends deep/big pussy.hqdefault
Since then he has mostly appeared in films in minor roles but has instead made a very successful career as a hollywood writer and director, scripting such 1980s classics as Leathal Weapon one and two, The Monster Squad, an more recently as writer and director of Iron Man 3 and is now looking to return to the Predator franchise as writer and director of the upcoming film “The Predator” which is scheduled for a 2018 release.  Black has said in recent reviews that he plans for the new Predator film to be a “big event”  movie, similar to Iron Man 3 and hoping to breath new energy and life into the lagging franchise.
According to Black, 20th Century Fox convinced him to take charge of the Predator franchise movie forward, even though he freely admitted to not having been overly impressed with certain previous installments in the series (the Alien vs. Predator movies, in particular):
They called me and I was reluctant. I said, “Look. You guys at Fox, I mean, I enjoy these movies, but we’ve been churning out these AVP whatever, they each cost a certain amount of money, they’re okay, but there’s no effort to elevate them or make them any kind of an event.” They’re just sort of another Predator. “Oh, there’s another one that came out.” They said, “What if we said to you we want to reinvent this, and really treat it with as much of an event status, or as much hoopla as we would the Alien prequel, which is coming out also? We really want to make this something. The kind of movie that people line up for.” I said, “Really, you’ll spend a bunch of money?” They go, “Yep.” I go, “Make it really scale, spectacle?” “Yep.” “S***, that sounds interesting.”predator-movie-shane-black1
I think the first one was great, and it was contained, and it was a perfect little gem for what it was. I think there’s an expansion that needs to take place, and also just a love for that era, that movie, and the mythology of the Predator. I think that they came to me knowing pretty much that… they said, basically, if I wanted to make Predator but treat it like it was Iron Man III instead of just another little movie. I said, “Let’s really do it right this time.”Arnold-Schwarzenegger-in-Predator
During the annual Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio, the action icon original star Arnold Swartzennager broke the news, revealing to The Arnold Fans that he’s going to have a meeting with Black soon about the new film:
“I haven’t talked with him (Shane Black) yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with this (Arnold’s Sports Festival) and The Apprentice and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about Conan, about the project moving forward.”
The Predator is scheduled for release on March 2, 2018

the Mummy reboot will star Tom Cruise

mummy-reboot-2016-tom-cruiseThe Mummy will serve as the starting point for Universal’s relaunch of its monster film universe, with Alex Kurtzman (co-writer of Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness) and Fast & Furious writer/producer Chris Morgan working together as the architects for the studio’s rebooted monster cinematic universe. Kurtzman is also directing this new Mummy series installment based on a screenplay by Jon Spaihts (co-writer of Prometheus and the upcoming Doctor Strange); and most recently, Tom Cruise reportedly entered negations to play the (non-mummy) lead in the film.
Reports are now in, stating that Cruise has closed his deal to headline Universal’s Mummy film reboot as (supposedly) an ex-Navy SEAL, with Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s Sofia Boutella onboard to play the eponymous monster. Production on the project is still expected to begin early this spring, though Universal has now shifted The Mummy‘s release date – clearly, in response to moves that other studios have made with the release dates for their own 2017 tentpoles.
Variety is reporting that Universal has moved The Mummy from March 24th, 2017 to June 9th of that same year, now that Cruise is “officially” signed on. The move comes on the heels of Disney/Lucasfilm having moved Star Wars: Episode VIII away from late May to December of the same year (with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales now in Episode VIII‘s former spot); in addition, Paramount has dropped the Terminator: Genisys sequel from its official release docket, which has likewise reduced the competition that The Mummy will face in early June 2017. The Divergent Series: Ascendent and World War Z 2 are currently scheduled to arrive on the same date as The Mummy – but since the WWZ sequel only just lost its director (at the time of writing this) odds are it will ultimately be delayed from its current date.

doctor-strange-cumberbatch-magic-powersI will admit proudly that the upcoming Marvel film “Dr. Strange”  is one of my most anticipated of the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently schedule, only behind, obviously Infinity War 1 &2.  Doctor Strange is the second film slated for release in Marvel’s Phase 3. Directed by Scott Derrickson it will star  Benedict Cumberbatch as “Sorcerer Supreme” Stephen Strange, and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. This origin story for Strange will not only explore magic, mythicism, and sorcery, it will continue to reveal connections to the greater MCU,possibly introducing another infinity stone. But the has not been much details given on the villain of the film Baron Mordo, Master of the Dark Arts, who will be portrayed by  Chiwetel Ejiofor. (Inside Man, 12 Years a Slave, 2012, Amistead, Serinity)
In an interview with HeyUGuys  Ejiofor spoke about playing Mordo and the fun challenges that came with the role. While he doesn’t give much away about the plot or his allegiances, he does offer his take on what makes working on a project like this so intriguing.
“I think he’s a fascinating charterer…I think even in the original framework of that character I think it’s very fascinating. And sort of fleshing that out and giving that a kind of real 3 dimensional quality has been exciting and I think that even within the scope and the technical and visual skill of the Marvel universe I think that this is something unique. I’m excited for people to see it”
“Marvel are introducing a lot of different characters, and diversity in the characters. I think getting Black Panther up and running is really great, really exciting. I think that the more that that can happen and we get as an audience to experience different stories, different people, I think it’s very rich, it’s a very rich world.”
Captain America: Civil War will release on May 6, 2016, followed by Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016; Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017; Spider-Man – July 7, 2017; Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017; Black Panther – February 16, 2018; The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 – May 4, 2018; Ant-Man and the Wasp – July 6, 2018; Captain Marvel – March 8, 2019; The Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 – May 3, 2019; Inhumans – July 12, 2019; and as-yet untitled Marvel movies on May 1, July 10 and November 6, 2020.

Jeremy Renner to star in Hawkeye Netflix series or a solo movie…?

Black-Widow-Hawkeye-itf-puffycheaks1-and-callie2899-32735026-500-270Netflix already includes a number of superhero Marvel series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. So what is next?

During a Q&A at Silicon Valley Comic Con, Jeremy Renner, a.k.a. Hawkeye, was asked if he would be interested in making the transition to television and star in a series on Netflix in the style of fellow superhero Daredevil. Renner explained it would be an ideal way to further explore the character, but  that no decision had been made and there currently was no plans that he was aware of…saying:

“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”Black-Widow-Hawkeye-itf-puffycheaks1-and-callie2899-32735026-500-270

He was later asked about his thoughts on a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie, to which he instantly responded: “in a second. I’d love to do that.” A Black Widow/Hawkeye movie has been a constant request from fans, mainly due to the numerous hints about their past and their missions together that have been dropped throughout the Avengers movies. But again he stressed that there were no plans currently being discussed.

Captain America: Civil War will release on May 6, 2016, followed by Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016; Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017; Spider-Man – July 7, 2017; Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017; Black Panther – February 16, 2018; The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 – May 4, 2018; Ant-Man and the Wasp– July 6, 2018; Captain Marvel – March 8, 2019; The Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 – May 3, 2019; Inhumans– July 12, 2019; and as-yet untitled Marvel movies on May 1, July 10 and November 6, 2020.

Cable_headDeadpool director Tim Miller, recently gave some insights into his ideals for Deadpool 2 which has apparently already been greenlit to begin production. Speaking at the Silicon Valley Comic Con with Comic Book.com, Miller gave his concepts for including the comic book hero Cable in the sequel saying,
“I don’t think bigger is better. You tell a story that’s organic to the character. Deadpool’s world doesn’t mean you have to go bigger. I don’t think the fans of the movie like it because we had big effects. It had a lot of heart…a lot of humor [and] a main character that’s different than anything else that was out there. [Going bigger] wouldn’t be honest to who he is and why people like him.”deadpool-cable-creator-rob-liefeld-talks-fox-s-mutant-marvel-movie-future-deadpool-a-429081
“Yeah, you listen to it, (fan debates) but it’s like if you’re a Republican or a Democrat. If you have an idea of what you want government to be, then that’s kind of what you hear — to support your own ideas. I have an idea of what Cable should be from reading the comics. So, someone in Des Moines, Iowa, may have a different idea of Cable from reading the comics. I may not like his idea. I might read it, but I may not do it. I would say I listen to all of them, but I don’t look to that to guide me. I look to the comic and why people like these characters.”
Deadpool is now in theaters; X-Men: Apocalypse will open in U.S. theaters on May 27th, 2016, followed by Wolverine 3 on March 3rd, 2017 and unannounced X-Men films on October 6th, 2017 (possibly Gambit), January 12th, 2018 (possibly Deadpool 2), and July 13th, 2018. The New Mutants is also in development.

Superman vs Batman originally planned to included the Joker and Riddler ?

batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-done-filming-570x294Director Zack Snyder revealed in a recent interview  with  Collider, made the surprise announcement that at one time both he and screenwriter Chris Terrio spent a considerable amount of time discussing the ideals regarding adding more classic villains to the already large ensemble cast of characters in the upcoming blockbuster Superman vs Batman….
“The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.”
As interesting a thought to include these iconic Batman villains, the number of comic book characters assembled (sorry bad pun) was already feeling somewhat intimidating, even a little claustrophobic in this superhero geek boys mind, and leaving uneasy reminders of the fate of adding to many characters as was done in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns or any one of the X-men films. But hopefully with a running time of almost 2 and a half hours the current roster will be given equal amount of screen time.

Stephen King’s IT to begin production soon? Two films still planned, details inside…

it dont you want itMany readers of Stephen Kings massive series of writings consider The Dark Tower to be his Magnum Opus, his greatest achievement, and I tried to get into the book series but stopped only a short way into the drawing of the three (book 2)  I just could not get it, others consider the Stand as his greatest achievement assumably as it is (was) his biggest book as far as pages, until Under the Dome was published, me, personally I personally feel that his greatest novel was and will always be IT (with Misery, following by a razor thin margin, only due to the different in scope and page numbers)

As a novel, It frightened a generation of eager readers and later went on to up the ante and fully terrify that same generation when ABC’s 1990 mini-series of the same name hit television screens (starring Tim Curry as Pennywise).Since that time, plans have been in the works to release a feature length It film. Director Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, True Detective) was originally set to bring the production to life, but ended up leaving last year due to creative differences. Since then,  in an interview with Collider, producer Roy Lee discussed the film’s new director – Andy Muscietti (Mama) – as well as upcoming production plans:

“It will hopefully be shooting later this year. We just got the California tax credit… Gary Doberman wrote the most recent draft working with Andy Muscetti, so it’s being envisioned as two movies.”

Fukunaga ended up leaving the project in 2015, saying that when it came to working with the studio,“Every little thing was being rejected and asked for changes.” Fukunaga had wanted a more exploratory take on the source material, whereas Roy Lee is careful to assure fans that the film will be more like the novel.
“It is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work… We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it’s gonna be a really fun way of making this movie.”
He has recently basically promised each film part will be created with a strong R rating clearly in mind.

A Star Wars Avengers crossover… ? Stan Lee admits….

star-wars-avengers-crossover-700x300As much as he has accomplished in his 93 years as a superhero godfather, Stan Lee loves to talk about things that he has literally no involvement in whatsoever. Even though he co-created a massive amount of the greatest icons of Marvel’s superheroes, and was once even the chairman of Marvel Entertainment and even more, once as chairman, actually had the opportunity to BUY DC COMICS now he’s more of a mascot, a figurehead, Marvel’s own version of  Mickey Mouse. Thankfully, Lee’s chatter tends to be entertaining, especially when he says crazy things about Disney merging the Avengers and Star Wars franchises to create some kind of uber-blockbuster.
In an interview with The Big Issue (via Uproxx), the 93-year old Lee spoke about the potential of a Star Wars and Marvel crossover. After all, both universes are currently owned by Disney, so it is theoretically possible. And Lee seems totally okay with this thoroughly outrageous concept:

If they feel that incorporating Star Wars with the Marvel characters will be very successful, they’ll find a way to do it. Can you imagine Spider-Man saying, ‘May the force be with you?’ It may come to that!

But let’s not dismiss Mr. Lee too quickly. After all, he does point out that the Avengers only came about after he threw a bunch of disparate characters together. So why not add the cast of Star Wars to the mix:

I created the Avengers by taking many of our characters and making a team out of them. We can have as many characters join the Avengers as we want to for future movies. That might be fun, all of a sudden Luke Skywalker is an Avenger!

Another 300 sequel in the works? well… not exactly, details inside

Gerard Butler 300Speaking at the press junket for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder was asked whether there could be more 300 sequels at some point. He revealed that there have been discussions about it, though the setting may move away from ancient Greece.
Snyder recently mentioned he wanting to make a 300-style film about George Washington during the Revolutionary War. This apparently isn’t the only 300-like movie that’s been considered, either. When asked whether he thought there would be another 300 film, he responded:
“There may be. There may be. We’ve been talking a lot about sort of different incarnations of 300. We’ve been talking about is there a way, possibly, we move out of Ancient Greece and use it as a framing device for other conflicts that happened throughout history.
I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we’ve talked about there’s a battle in China, a “Lost Legion” kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table.”
Personally the ideal of other historical battle done 300 style would greatly be determined by the actual battle and more specifically the era in which it takes place… I personally hate period films, especially colonial/revolutionary war era… but that is just me…

Infinity War films directors give more details

Infinity_Gauntlet_1That’s according to Joe Russo who along with his co-director and brother Anthony spoke with Forbes about what they’re currently up to at Marvel.
Joe Russo: Maybe there’s a character requirement but with things like Avengers: Infinity War that’s obvious because it’s a culmination of all the films in the phase that have preceded it. You know that Thanos is going to be in there and the majority of the Marvel Universe is going to appear in the movies. Those are givens, but after that we can construct any narrative we want around it and what we think is the best execution of the story.Home » movie news and rumors » Infinity War films directors give more details

And while the Russos let slip in January that there are 67 characters pinned to their Infinity War planning board, and while that number seems like a lot, and it is.. from a cast of characters point of view, and quite exiting news, that number and the possibilities it approaches must be placed into context of the original source material, namely the six issue Infinity Gauntlet which saw at least one hundred heroes, mortal and cosmic fighting the Mad Titan Thanos.

Personally the possibility however misplaced at the hopes of seeing even just a few of the “Cosmic Entities” on the big screen boggles my senses.marvel cosmic entitiesmarvel infinity war

Joe Russo: New characters that are going to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s a big sprawling ambitious movie, it’s about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scale and scope to it.

Anthony Russo: It is intended to be the entire culmination of the Marvel cinematic universe and, in many ways, the end to that part of it. But we don’t even have the first draft in on that script yet; we’re still in the outline phase. It’s hard not to talk about it too specifically now only because of spoilers but also because we’re still figuring it out.

The Crow reboot in jeopardy (again) losing its director

the crow reboot
the crow rebootThe Wrap is reporting Relativity has parted ways with Corin Hardy (The Hallow), who originally signed on to helm the film in 2014 after The Crow reboot lost its previous director, F. Javier GutiĆ©rrez. As reported earlier, Relativity had planned to move forward with Hardy on board and filming to start in early 2016 that was until the studio filed for bankruptcy.  A number of actors have been relatively attached to the reboot (sorry for the pun) including  Jack Huston (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies)  Luke Evans (Dracula Untold), Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), and James McAvoy (X-Men: Apocalypse).

The original film is easily on my top five favorite films of all time and the ideal of a re-imagining makes me equally excited and nervous, as having been a big fan of the original graphic novel and appreciating the possible concept of what was left behind or missing in the original adaption fills my head with wonder, until I remember all the poorly executed sequels that followed.the crow brandon lee the crow reboot

At this point even Alex Proyas recently stating he feels a reboot is “unnecessary.” The director further said, “it would be nice if Hollywood kind of left it alone and let it remain Brandon Lee’s legacy.”   And while I whole heartedly agree with the statement I am also polarized by the comments over recent years of Crow Graphic novel creator James O’barr

Pacific Rim 2 get a new director

Pacific_Rim_FilmPosterTHR reported the latest news on Pacific Rim 2, which will be Stephen DeKnight’s feature-length film directing debutm having most recently being head writer for Netflix’s Daredevil and he also created the visually impressive Spartacus for Starz one of my personal all time favorite series. This time around, DeKnight will direct from a script written by Jon Spaihts, who co-wrote Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and the upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange. Del Toro will remain attached to the project as a producer, alongside Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent; Legendary Pictures’ Senior VP of Production Jillian Share will serve as executive producer. The reason for the cange in director is fairly obvious due to del Toro’s long list of commitments, from Fantastic Voyage to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark  Del Toro is scheduled to direct three films for Universal: Frankenstein; a new adaptation of Slaughterhouse-Five; and Drood, a film based on a Dan Simmons novel published in February 2009.
Del Toro said his Frankenstein would be a faithful “Miltonian tragedy”, citing Frank Darabont’s “near perfect” script, which evolved into Kenneth Branagh’s Frankenstein.
In 2008, del Toro announced a stop-motion film based on the Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, co-directed by Adam Parrish King, with Jim Henson Company as production company, and music by Nick Cave.It was in production for three years, and is now in development hell.Pacific_Rim_2_72558

On July 28, 2010, it was announced that he would direct At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft for Universal Pictures, with James Cameron as producer.  Both of them put forward the idea for Universal, which then greenlit it.

All this was preventing the film from getting underway in the near future…   On September 16, 2015, the sequel was reported to have been “halted indefinitely” due to undisclosed conflicts between Legendary and Universal Pictures.  On September 29, 2015, Universal Pictures removed the sequel from their release calendar while at the same time stating the film sequel was still moving forward.  In February 2016, it was announced that Steven S. DeKnight will direct the sequel making it his directorial debut while del Toro will stay on as a Producer.
